The now iconic Aquanaut family began in 1997 with the 5060A, which was soon regarded as the younger sibling of the then twenty-one year old Nautilus. The young and modern distinctive dimensions of the Aquanaut perfectly encapsulated the mood at the end of the 1990s with the statement grenade-patterned dial and "tropical" rubber strap attracting attention. Fast forward another twenty-one years, Patek Philippe introduced a stylish chronograph model with the 5968A-001. In May 2021 this hugely popular reference was extended with the introduction of the 5968G-001 Aquanaut flyback chronograph with a stunning blue, black gradient dial (first seen on the 5168G-001 introduced in 2017). A statement 42.2mm white gold case has been expertly polished and satin finished to display a strong presence on the wrist, and continues the now familiar look of this famous younger sibling. Patek Philippe have been making chronograph wristwatches since the 1920s with the dial of the 5968G-001 displaying a central chronograph hand and 60-minute counter. The complicated flyback function is a useful addition for the modern wearer as it ensures that the chronograph can easily be reset without the need to stop it first. Housing the well-known self-winding mechanical calibre CH 28-520C the 5968G-001 has a useful maximum 55-hour power reserve. Presented on a practical and stylish midnight blue "tropical" composite texture strap this model can be worn from day to night, and has a water resistance of 120m.
