Description
A vibrant 2.75ct oval cut Burmese ruby captivates as the centrepiece of this stunning ring that has been inspired by the Victorian period. This beautiful gemstone has been securely claw set into warm 18ct yellow gold, and surrounded by a border of sparkling round brilliant cut diamonds (0.30cts). Expertly set into white gold the characteristic cut down settings of the period have been brought into the 21st-century through the combination of angular sections and fine claws. A plain richly polished shank perfectly completes this classic design, which ensures that all eyes are drawn towards the impressive and rare central ruby. Burma, or Myanmar, is a country that is renowned for its deposits of extraordinary rubies and other fine gemstones. Showcasing rich and vibrant tones this rare and sought after example is accompanied by certification from the SSEF laboratory to confirm that it has not been subjected to any heat treatment to improve its colour. Burmese rubies are highly regarded for their vivid red colour, which comes to life in the sunshine. Natural (non-heated) examples are incredibly rare in the market today, and are sought after by collectors. The medium strong saturation of this stone coupled with its transparency mean that it is highly desirable. A superb example of a ruby with Burmese provenance that has been expertly mounted to showcase its beauty.
