Description
A platinum cocktail ring from the Art Deco period (c.1915) by the House of Marcus & Co featuring a luminous green 10.32ct cabochon jade. Secured with elegantly fan shaped claws, an elaborately pierced gallery adds height and interest. Brilliant cut (0.15ct) set shoulders complete the design, and ensure all eyes are drawn towards the central statement gemstone. Jade is a gemstone that has been revered and adored by Chinese culture for thousands of years and is known to attract good luck and friendship. Showcasing the much sought after pure green colour, this is a true statement piece that instantly brings to mind the newness of spring. The popularity of jadeite has soared in the past few years, with examples seen on the red carpet and featuring in the collections of both the Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex. The House of Marcus & Co was founded in the late 19th-century in New York city, and became famous for utilising more unusual gemstones such as; tourmaline, opal & jade. Showcasing the most current tastes and styles of the first half of the 20th-century, jewels bearing the Marcus & Co signature were adored by high society. The House remained in family ownership until the early 1940s when it was sold, and then merged with another famous name (Black, Starr & Frost). Check Specifications for ring size details.
