The IWC Portugieser was first introduced in 1939 as the challenge of two Portuguese businessmen, Rodrigues and Teixeira, to produce a large steel wristwatch which could house a movement that could match the accuracy of a marine chronometer.
This pre-owned IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar 44.2mm Men's Watch has the most discernible silver dial, with silver Arabic numerals. Two sub-dials display the small seconds and the seven day power reserve indicator. Towards the twelve o'clock is the annual calendar, read as month, date and day. Powered by the incredible 52850 Calibre. Housed within the protective veil of the watch case, with large winding crown, providing a water resistance of 30 metres. Protected by a sapphire crystal glass and display back, through which the automatic movement can be seen. Finished with a classic black alligator leather strap.
The production of any annual calendar mechanical watch is a feat of watchmaking greatness. To create an annual calendar with a window display that can be read horizontally, from a single location on the dial, is pure brilliance.
