About Blancpain
Blancpain is the world’s oldest watch brand, dating back to 1735 when Jehan-Jacques Blancpain registered himself as a watchmaker in the Villeret village records.
By 1830, Frédéric-Emile Blancpain, Jehan-Jacques’ grandson, had taken over the family business and began the construction of what would become the largest watch manufacturer in Villeret.
In 1932, Blancpain became the first leading watch company with a female CEO; seventh generation family member, Frédéric-Emile, died, leaving the company to his long-term assistant, Betty Fiechter.
Although Blancpain watches uphold the great traditions and expertise gained from two centuries’ worth of watchmaking heritage, innovation is at the forefront of their vision; they frequently quote that innovation is their tradition. They create new timepieces with modern technology, which is compatible with conventional processes.
Blancpain’s passion for the marine world is embodied in their Fifty Fathoms collection. Introduced for the first time in 1953 with the creation of the first modern diver’s watch, they are famed for their efficiency in and out of water. The latest additions to the Fifty Fathoms models bear the principal distinctive characteristics that forged the reputation of their legendary ancestor and established it as the archetypal diver’s watch.
