Breitling have been producing exquisite, stylish and sophisticated timepieces for men since 1884 when Leon Breitling opened his first workshop in the Swiss Jura Mountains. Initially specialising in instruments for scientific and industrial purposes, Breitling successfully developed the first independent chronograph push piece in 1915 and went on to perfect the stop/start function in 1923. The now iconic Navitimer was launched in 1952, which proved to be a pivotal point in the development and reputation of the brand as a leading watchmaker across the globe. Also, in 1962 Breitling presented the first self-winding chronograph movement and in 1984 launched the beginnings of the high-performance Chronomat series.

Aviation is firmly embedded into the DNA of the Breitling men’s watch collection with many aeroplane manufacturers choosing Breitling’s onboard chronographs as their standard equipment on jet aircraft. By working with the elite of air pilot professionals, several teams now fly Breitling colours on their wing including the brand’s own acrobatic Jet Team who compete in the Red Bull Air Race each year.
