Masterpiece Pragnell Setting 6.67ct Kashmir Sapphie and Diamond Ring in Platinum

A rare and striking Kashmir sapphire commands attention as the centrepiece of this exceptional Pragnell Setting ring. Secured by four hand-shaped platinum claws, the vibrant sapphire (6.674ct) displays an intense, velvety blue tone, beautifully contrasted by shoulders expertly channel-set with graduated French-cut diamonds (1.82ct). Platinum has been used to ensure no taint of colour affects either the central or shoulder stones. Few gemstones are rarer than fine Kashmir sapphires, renowned for their exceptional electric-blue colour and velvety appearance. The legendary Kashmir deposits in Northern India produced their finest sapphires for only a brief period towards the end of the 19th century, with the richest workings largely depleted by 1887. As a result, fine Kashmir sapphires encountered today are predominantly historic stones, which may remain in their original antique settings, as loose gemstones, or having been subsequently remounted and re-cut into more contemporary jewellery. This exceptional sapphire was hand-selected by members of the Pragnell family and has been presented in this distinctive Pragnell Setting, allowing its remarkable colour and character to take centre stage. The sapphire is accompanied by certification from both the Swiss Gemological Institute (SSEF) and American Gemological Laboratories (AGL), confirming its Kashmir origin and stating that it has not been subjected to heat treatment to enhance its colour or clarity.
