The Antrobus Collection

Royal Inspiration

We are immensely proud of our tapestry of royal connections, which stretch back to the early 19th century. The founder of our family business, George Pragnell, began his career as an apprentice at Biggs of Maidenhead, jeweller to Queen Mary. As a young man he was instructed to entertain the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret as their grandmother perused the jewels on display.

When George Pragnell opened his own jewellery house in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1954, he recognised the value of such royal relations. Over the decades, Pragnell acquired the prestigious jewellery houses, George Tarratt (est. 1915) and Philip Antrobus (est. 1815) - the creator of the Queen’s engagement ring.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip showing engagement ring

The late Queen Elizabeth II's engagement ring was crafted by Antrobus Ltd using diamonds sourced from a royal tiara. Our Antrobus ring pays tribute to its timeless beauty.

When Prince Philip of Greece was preparing to propose to Princess Elizabeth in 1946, he needed an engagement ring worthy of a future queen. To accomplish this, his mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, gifted him a stunning antique tiara, which was dismantled to provide the diamonds for Princess Elizabeth's ring. The prince commissioned prestigious Bond Street jeweller, Philip Antrobus Ltd—now owned by Pragnell—to design and create this special piece.

The ring features a stunning three-carat round brilliant diamond, set in platinum and flanked by smaller pavé-set diamonds. In 2016, Pragnell celebrated the 70th anniversary of the royal proposal by launching the Antrobus engagement ring. While it is not a replica of the Queen's ring, it is a contemporary interpretation inspired by its classic elegance.

The Antrobus engagement ring is crafted in platinum and features GIA-certified diamonds, chosen for their exceptional beauty and brilliance. Each ring is available with a central diamond of any size starting from 0.5 carats and is lovingly handcrafted in our British workshops.

Prince Philip also commissioned Antrobus Ltd to create a spectacular bracelet using diamonds from his mother's tiara. The prince presented Princess Elizabeth with the bracelet as a wedding gift, and she wore it on her wedding day on 20th November 1947. The Queen continued to wear the bracelet at royal engagements throughout her reign. When Pragnell acquired Antrobus, we inherited its archive, including the original design for this illustrious bracelet.

Antrobus bracelet

In celebration of the platinum anniversary of the royal engagement, we created a one-of-a-kind Antrobus bracelet, inspired by the geometric beauty of the original. Crafted in platinum, this bracelet features over 320 modern brilliant-cut diamonds, totalling more than 45 carats. A member of the Pragnell family personally selected each diamond for its quality and beauty.

The design features three identical geometric motifs, each centred on a 2.5-carat diamond. Handcrafted over three months in our British workshop, our master craftsmen shaped, set, and polished more than 70 individual components using traditional goldsmithing techniques. The result is a stunning heirloom worthy of a queen.

The Collection

The collection is a stunning embodiment of elegance and timeless class, designed to make a striking statement. Each piece is carefully crafted in the Pragnell Great British workshops, showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship that defines the brand. The Antrobus setting, marked by the exclusive Pragnell Seal, highlights the collection's commitment to superior artistry.

All diamonds in this collection are GIA certified, ensuring their exceptional quality and brilliance. Pragnell Gemmologists hand-select each diamond, contributing to the overall uniqueness and charm of the pieces. The use of recycled platinum not only enhances the luxurious appeal but also reflects our commitment to sustainability. This collection is perfect for those who appreciate both beauty and ethical craftsmanship.

Antrobus 1.08ct Diamond Solitaire Pendant in 18ct White Gold

Pendants

When designing a necklace, the central stone is the focal point; therefore, it's essential to keep the design simple and clean. The light chain seamlessly fades into the background, allowing the Antrobus pendant's solitaire to take centre stage.

You can layer it with other pieces from the Antrobus collection. Choosing pendants with similar delicate chains will create a cohesive look that highlights the main elements without overwhelming your overall style. Don't hesitate to mix metal tones, such as yellow and white gold, for a modern touch.
