Description

A bold and sculptural platinum and diamond plaque cocktail ring from the Art Deco period. Showcasing the strong lines and geometric forms beloved of this era a central rectangular plaque showcases an expert linear arrangement of romantically sparkling old European cut diamonds. Jewellery produced during this period (1911-1940) was inspired by modernity and had a lasting impact on jewellery design that can still be seen today. These designs allowed diamonds and gemstones to speak for themselves, which can be seen in the striking architectural showcase displayed here. Originally this ring would have been worn as a symbol of wealth and status along with an arrangement of bold bracelets and other jewels to an evening party. During this period short sleeved fashions exposed the arms and wrists, and enabled sparkling jewels to catch all eyes on the dance floor.
