Description

A beautifully detailed 18ct yellow gold and seed pearl arrow brooch from the late Victorian period. Designed to form a statement when worn the head and tail sections of the arrow appear to have been shot through the blouse or coat when worn (a safety chain ensuring that this piece remains secure). Superb craftsmanship can be seen in the individual gold feather forms of the arrowhead, and the delicate seed pearls set throughout. Arrows were popularly used in jewellery designs by the Victorians as they were associated with protection and romance.
