Description
A striking emerald and diamond ring from the Victorian period. Gleaming with vibrant green tones this verdant emerald (0.60ct) has been expertly rubover set into silver. A double halo of romantically sparkling old cut diamonds (1.35cts) will come alive when worn in soft evening candlelight. Intricate 18ct yellow gold scroll work shoulders complete this beautiful piece. Rings became increasingly popular in the Victorian period when it became fashionable to wear multiple rings on each hand. This was influenced by Queen Victoria and her royal relatives, who dictated styles and tastes to the Empire at large. Emeralds were also popular, and were regularly worn by the Queen herself set into tiaras, necklaces and brooches, after having initially received an emerald set engagement ring from Prince Albert in the late 1830s. Showcasing the birthstones for the months of April and May this superb quality example will make the perfect dress ring.
