Victorian Etruscan Style Mourning Locket in 18ct Yellow Gold

A sentimental Etruscan style mourning locket from the Victorian period. Bearing the French small guarantee owl mark for gold this piece was likely imported into France for sale. Intricate beaded and rope effect gold work dominates the design with the central oval plaque featuring an angel playing a lyre. The reverse crystal section features a ducal monogram (CB), and would have originally contained a lock of hair to remember a loved one. Perfect to wear over a jumper or shirt this beautiful locket has been paired with a double strand (150cm) guard chain.
