Description

An exceptional pair of cushion cut Sri Lankan blue sapphire and diamond cluster earrings from the Victorian period. Two vibrant blue Sri Lankan sapphires (8.70cts) captivate the eye securely claw set into buttery yellow gold. Romantically sparkling old cut diamonds (3.00cts) surround both sapphires set into silver, and will come alive when worn in the light. Lever back fittings ensure these earrings are supremely comfortable when worn in the ear. Known as 'The Gem Island', Sri Lanka is famous for producing a wide variety of exceptional quality stones. These beautiful examples are accompanied by certification from the GCS (Gemmological Certification Services) to confirm they have not been subjected to any heat treatment to enhance their colour. This was influenced by Queen Victoria and her royal relatives who dictated styles and tastes to the Empire at large.
