Lucy Rivers Bulkeley
At Pragnell, we are full of admiration for those who push themselves to the extreme by undertaking ultra-endurance endeavours. Like our pioneering heroine, Lucy Rivers Bulkeley, who we are proud to introduce as a friend and ambassador of the House. Fulfilling an adventurer's lifestyle to the highest level, she is the only woman to have crossed the four major desert ultramarathons and climbed the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.

Where the Journey Began
With a true passion for adventure and breaking records, Lucy started her ultramarathon journey by crossing over 250kms of desert in the 4 Desert Grand Slam Marathon, which is a self–supported race that stretches over the Sahara, Atacama, Gobi and Antarctic deserts. Having never done a marathon prior, Lucy described it as the catalyst to many more marathons and successful summits.
Lucy completed the marathon in loving memory of her father, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2007. Spending his life as a military attaché, Lucy described him as a symbol of mental and physical strength, inspiring her to defy the odds.

Facing New Heights
Ambitiously, Lucy took on an even more significant challenge: to be the first woman in the world to not only complete the 4 Desert Grand Slam but to summit all 7 of the world’s highest peaks, where she was determined to break both societal bias and world records.
Having managed to successfully summit all 7 Peaks, with Everest being her biggest challenge yet, Lucy spent just over a month on the mountain to acclimatise to the harsh conditions she was about to face; the final summit was nothing short of breath-taking, as she recalls: “It was crystal clear at the top and you can’t compute how far you can see. Everything in the world is below you. You can see the curvature of the earth.”

Adventures of a Rare Jewel
Accompanying Lucy to the top of Everest was a Pragnell 1ct diamond-set pendant. This diamond is an incredibly rare and storied gemstone, having adventured from thousands of feet below the earth's surface to thousands of feet above it. As an investment to future achievers, Pragnell proudly donated the Everest pendant necklace to the Prince's Trust auction in support of educating and training disadvantaged talent across the UK.
As Lucy has so done so boldly, inspiring and supporting young individuals to believe they too can push beyond limitations is a Pragnell commitment. Lucy has contributed immensely by raising thousands of pounds for Charity through her on-going success.
All of us at Pragnell are completely in awe of Lucy’s courage, passion and perseverance in her pursuit of excellence. We are extremely proud to be supporting her incredible endeavours. Having now achieved another major triumph of skiing to the South Pole to Climb Mount Vinson in 2022, we eagerly await Lucy’s next great adventure to the North Pole.
