The diamond set into this design is accompanied by certification from the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) to confirm sought after G colour and VS1 clarity grades. Burma or Myanmar, is a country that is renowned for its deposits of extraordinary gemstones. The vivid colour displayed by the finest Burmese rubies (known as Pigeon’s Blood) is hugely sought after by gemstone collectors and connoisseurs across the globe. The example showcased here is accompanied by certification from the WGI (World Gemmological Institute) to confirm it has been subjected to heat treatment to enhance its colour and clarity. Designed by members of the Pragnell family the soft lines of the diamond and ruby have been expertly complemented by richly polished buttery 18ct yellow gold mounts. As a sixth-generation family jeweller, the Pragnell family has drawn inspiration from the softly curved profile of stones found in the riverbeds of Botswana, creating this refreshing contemporary style. Toi et Moi is a French term meaning “you and me”, which is represented by the diamond and ruby that feature at the centre of the design. Hugely popular as an engagement ring style during the 19th-century and early 20th-centuries the two stones represented the two lovers joining together.
