Description

A stylish and immensely wearable buttery 18ct yellow gold and rose cut diamond set star bangle from the Victorian period. Perfectly embodying the current fashion for bold gold jewellery this beautiful bangle captivates with three silver stars set with alluring rose cut diamonds. The Victorians were obsessed with the mystery and magic of stars with bejewelled examples becoming hugely popular. Diamond encrusted star brooches, crescents & feathers were often attached as fastenings for lace & velvet. They also adorned elaborate hair styles fixed with ‘en Tremblant’ attachments for the evening, and were highly fashionable in the 1890’s. Princess Alexandra was given a ‘parure’ of Diamond star brooches by the Prince of Wales in 1863 as can be seen in a photograph by Alexander Bassano 1881 which hangs in the National Portrait Gallery.
