During visits to South Africa and Botswana, members of the Pragnell family travelled from Johannesburg's cutting workshops to Kimberley, the historic heart of South Africa's diamond industry. Meeting mining partners and visiting operations firsthand provided valuable insight into the geological processes that create exceptional yellow diamonds, while highlighting initiatives to restore landscapes, support local communities and protect wildlife.

In Botswana, a visit to Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) offered a rare opportunity to observe the sorting and grading of rough diamonds, from everyday production to some of the world's most remarkable discoveries. Witnessing the expertise and precision involved at every stage reinforced the extraordinary journey each diamond undertakes before reaching the hands of a master cutter.

Before cutting commenced, each rough diamond underwent extensive assessment to determine its colour saturation, shape, crystal structure and overall potential. Advanced planning techniques and specialist expertise helped identify the optimal balance between size, beauty and colour intensity, ensuring the remarkable characteristics of each diamond could be fully realised.
