Masterpiece Cabochon Cut 5.32ct Black Opal and Sapphire Ring in 18ct Yellow Gold
Cabochon Cut, Claw Set
Description
An exceptional 5.32ct cabochon black opal takes centre stage in this distinctive Masterpiece ring, presented in rich 18ct yellow gold. It reveals an enchanting play of colour, with luminous blues and greens interwoven with warmer flashes that shift and intensify as the stone catches the light. The opal is secured by four elegantly sculpted talon claws, designed to frame the stone while allowing its natural character and mesmerising colour to remain the focus. The warmth of the yellow gold provides a sophisticated contrast to the opal’s vivid flashes, while the shoulders are channel set with 1.42ct of calibre cut blue sapphires, creating a sleek band of saturated colour. A further 0.64ct of round brilliant cut diamonds brings brightness and scintillation to the design. As a sixth-generation family jeweller, Pragnell has a long-standing expertise in sourcing the world’s rarest and most sought-after gemstones. Predominantly found in Australia’s Lightning Ridge, black opals were formed approximately sixty million years ago when silica-rich water permeated cracks and cavities within the earth. As the water evaporated, it left behind deposits of silica, gradually forming the extraordinary opals prized today. The finest black opals are among the rarest and most coveted of gemstones, treasured for their depth of colour and mesmerising natural character. They are particularly suited to showpiece creations such as rings, pendants and earrings, where their individuality can take centre stage. Every Pragnell Masterpiece is a unique expression of the family’s rich heritage and a celebration of the most special moments in our clients’ lives. Handcrafted in our workshops in the heart of England, each creation bears the Pragnell Seal of superb quality, combining exceptional gemstones with artistry.
