$25,032
Description
A fine pair of Old Sheffield plate wine coolers in the celebrated Warwick Vase form, each with a broad body richly chased with figures, lion masks and dense foliate ornament, the rim with beaded border and the twin handles formed as gnarled vine branches. Each cooler is raised on a circular spreading foot above a plain square plinth, the whole of considerable weight and presence. Based on the famous ancient marble Warwick Vase, one of the most influential classical forms in English decorative arts, these coolers represent the Regency period at its most confident and grand. A rare and impressive pair, fit for the finest dining table.
