Description

An old cut sapphire 1.54ct captivates as the centrepiece of this stunning ring from the Edwardian period. This beautiful gemstone has been intricately millegrain set into durable platinum, and surrounded by a shaped surround set with old European cut diamonds (0.74ct). Two large examples (0.66ct) have been set either side of the central sapphire to showcase a vertical format three-stone design. The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces showcasing the very best diamonds and coloured gemstones were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life, steered by the fashion conscious King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time.
