Description

An entrancing 1.68ct cushion cut Burmese ruby captivates as the centrepiece of this stunning ring from the Edwardian period. This beautiful gemstone has been intricately millegrain set into durable platinum surrounded by a border of romantic old cut diamonds. Split shoulder decoration completes this elegant and charming design. The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces showcasing the very best diamonds and coloured gemstones were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life, steered by the fashion-conscious King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time. Burma, or Myanmar, is a country that is renowned for its deposits of extraordinary rubies and other fine gemstones. Showcasing rich and vibrant tones this rare and sought after example is accompanied by certification from the Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) to confirm that it has not been subjected to any heat treatment to improve its colour.
