Description

A statement 2.913ct oval cut Colombian Muzo emerald dress ring from the Edwardian period. Expertly millegrain set the refreshing tones of the central emerald have been perfect complimented by a bold square shaped surround set with romantically sparkling old cut diamonds. The four corners feature exaggerated curved forms that showcase larger diamonds. The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces showcasing the very best diamonds and gemstones were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life steered by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time. Nestled beneath the verdant rainforests that cover the country, the Colombian mines are famous for producing stones that have an intense green colour. Certified by the SSEF (Swiss Gemmological Institute) to confirm its Colombian origin, this example has only been subjected to minor clarity enhancement. Showcasing the birthstones for the months of April and May this superb quality example will make the perfect dress ring.
