Description

A vibrant and glowing 1.63ct cushion cut Burmese ruby captivates as the centrepiece of this stunning ring from the Edwardian period. This beautiful gemstone has been intricately claw set into yellow gold, and perfectly complemented by two old pear cut diamonds (2.44cts). Burma, or Myanmar, is a country that is renowned for its deposits of extraordinary rubies and other fine gemstones. Showcasing rich and vibrant tones this rare and sought after example is accompanied by certification from the American Gemmological Laboratories (AGL) to confirm that it has not been subjected to any heat treatment to improve its colour. Both diamonds also have GIA certification confirming D colour and VS1 clarity grades. The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces showcasing the very best diamonds and coloured gemstones were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life, steered by the fashion-conscious King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time.
