Art Deco ‘Tut-Mania’ Egyptian Charm Bracelet in 18ct Yellow Gold and Enamel
Description
A characterful Egyptian charm link bracelet (20cm) from the Art Deco period (1920s). Hallmarked London (18ct) a buttery yellow gold slim oval and round link bracelet elegantly encircles the wrist. Four detailed gold and coloured enamel charms complete the piece resonating with the wonders of the ancient Egyptian Pharoah Tutankhamun. Discovered by the English Egyptologist Howard Carter in November 1922 the intact tomb contained breathtaking examples of jewellery and goldsmiths’ work. The discovery created a worldwide interest in Ancient Egypt with ‘Tut-mania’ creating a desire for themed jewellery and the decorative arts. This beautiful bracelet was clearly inspired by the contents of the tomb with the enamel colours closely resembling those used over three thousand years ago. The fours charms depict a seated god with long hair and beard along with both the eye of Horus and Horus in flight. The most detailed charm is a sarcophagus that excitingly opens via a small hinge.
