Description

A geometric platinum, old European cut diamond and sapphire plaque ring from the Art Deco period. Showcasing the strong lines and geometric forms beloved of this era, the rectangular plaque head captivates with an arrangement of old European cut diamonds (0.26ct) and baguette cut sea blue sapphires (0.36ct). Jewellery produced during this period (1911-1940), was inspired by modernity and had a lasting impact on jewellery design that can still be seen today. The intense metallic sheen of platinum, combined with its strength and density, enabled intricate designs with minimal metal mounts to be produced. These designs allowed diamonds and gemstones to speak for themselves, which is demonstrated in the striking geometric showcase displayed here.
