Art Deco Cartier Square and Transitional Cut 35.16ct Diamond Convertible Necklace in Platinum
Transitional & Square Cut, Claw Set
Description
A striking geometric diamond (35.16cts) convertible necklace/bracelet from the Art Deco period by the House of Cartier. The intense sheen and durability of platinum was highly favoured during this time, as it enabled elaborate designs to be created using numerous stones that would not be obscured by dominant settings. Created during the golden years of the period this convertible necklace is composed of slim rectangular links set with two rows of transitional cut diamonds. These are separated by larger open links showcasing square cut diamonds. This distinctive jewel can be worn effortlessly as both a single necklace, or a choker example with a matching bracelet. The name of Cartier instantly brings to mind the sparkle of diamonds and the allure of the rich and famous. Since it was founded in Paris in 1847, the House has gone from strength to strength, being famously credited as “the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers” by King Edward VII. The house was at its peak when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1847 to 1964.
