Art Deco Cartier Pear Shaped Fancy Coloured Diamond Ring in Platinum

An important fancy diamond ring from the Art Deco period by the House of Cartier (Paris). Three main diamonds form a three stone motif with the allure of an old pear cut fancy light purplish pink (0.60ct) diamond commanding attention. This has been set into one half of a striking navette shaped frame that has been set with romantically sparkling old cut diamonds. This rare diamond has been joined by a central round cut white example, and a captivating old pear cut yellow tone stone. The intense sheen and durability of platinum were highly favoured during this time, as it enabled elaborate designs to be created using numerous stones that would not be obscured by dominant settings. Created during the golden years of the period, this ring showcases a focus onto geometric shapes which was so important during this time. The fancy light purplish pink diamond seen here is accompanied with certification from the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) confirming it is a sought-after natural example. The name of Cartier instantly brings to mind the sparkle of diamonds and the allure of the rich and famous. Since it was founded in Paris in 1847, the House has gone from strength to strength, being famously credited as “the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers” by King Edward VII. The house was at its peak when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1847 to 1964.
