Description

An eye-catching platinum, French Art Deco baguette cut blue sapphire and old cut diamond bracelet (circa 1920). This beautiful and immensely wearable example (17cm) is composed of 14 sections that elegantly encircle the wrist. Seven sections are arranged as pairs of rubover set baguette-cut blue sapphires, flanked by an old cut diamond. A further seven alternating sections of pairs of baguette cut blue sapphires have been surrounded by 24 eight-cut diamonds. The Art Deco period (1911-1940) was hugely important for jewellery and the wider decorative arts. Bracelets were particularly important as fashions exposed the wrists and arms with glamourous evening entertainments becoming more and more popular. This beautiful example combines the birthstones for the months of April and September.
