Cabochon & Single Cut, Rubover & Claw Set
$22,676
Description
A chic Italian 18ct yellow gold and ancient coin cuff bangle from the 1980s. A bold two thousand three hundred year old Alexander the Great and Zeus Tetradrachm silver coin takes centre stage, surrounded by a single cut diamonds (1.10cts) set frame with two rich red cabochon rubies (0.28ct). Portraying both Heracles and Zeus, the name ‘Alexander’ can be seen written in Greek. The bangle frame enables both sides of the coin to be clearly viewed, with a hinged section allowing it to be taken on and off the wrist with ease. Ancient coin jewels were popularised in Italy during the 1960s, with this example being clearly inspired by the House of Bvlgari.
