About F.P.Journe Linesport Watches

The first production sports watch in the collection, the F.P.Journe Linesport, was introduced in 2011 in the form of the aluminium Centigraphe CTS. Initially created at the behest of an early collector, the range expanded into what it is today.

Three different metals are available: - titanium, rose gold and platinum (aluminium was exchanged for titanium in 2014) and three distinct complications. The Automatique Reserve features a large date display, day-night indicator, sub-seconds and power reserve indicator. The Chronographe Rattrapante is the newest addition to the range and features the fully in-house calibre 1518, a monopoussoir split seconds chronograph movement. The pusher at 2H is for the chronograph start, stop and reset functions. The pusher at 4H operates the split. The remaining option in the F.P.Journe Linesport range is the Centigraphe, one of Journe’s most intriguing complications. The hand-wound movement indicates elapsed times from 100th of a second to 10 minutes, laid out over three dials. Just as special is the 3 day power reserve and the fact that the watch is merely 11mm thick, quite a feat for such a complication. The fact that Journe manages to extricate so much power from the slim case is mainly down to the 21,600 vph beat of the movement, a rate that yields accuracy of 1/6th second. An issue immediately arises here, one second divided into six does not result in tenths of a second. Whereas a typical chronograph engages teeth to teeth for a positive drive, the Centigraphe purposefully allows slip between each of the six engagements. Despite having six engagements the Centigraphe is capable of indicating a more analogue reading in-between and thereby solving the problem.

The F.P.Journe Linesport watch collection, a selection of robust timepieces for those disinclined to forgo a quality finish or high-end complications in a practical watch.
