Silver Victorian Mounted Claret Jug 1883
Hallmarked London
$4,211
Description
A Victorian silver-mounted glass claret jug of tapering cylindrical form, the plain glass body rising from a broad spreading foot to a richly decorated silver collar chased with a Green Man mask amongst dense foliate and floral ornament. Hallmarked London 1883, the contrast between the clear glass body and the exuberantly worked silver mounts is handled with great confidence. A fine and characterful piece of Victorian table silver.
