Description

A neat and well-proportioned silver octagonal jug by the distinguished silversmiths Mappin & Webb, hallmarked Sheffield 1925. The clean-lined octagonal body rises from a stepped octagonal foot to a generous curved spout, with a plain angular handle, a design of restrained classical elegance that reflects the refined taste of the period. The body bears a neatly engraved armorial crest, adding a pleasing note of provenance. A distinguished and practical piece of early twentieth century English silverwork in excellent order.
