Description


A George II silver salver with a plain polished surface, the centre engraved with a finely worked armorial cartouche framed by scrolling foliage. The salver stands on three shell feet in keeping with the decorative border above. A well-proportioned and characterful piece of early Georgian silver, the engraved armorial adding both personal provenance and decorative interest. A distinguished example of the silversmith's craft at a period widely regarded as one of the finest in English silver history.
