Description
An exceptional example of Cartier's bold and imaginative design, this signed bombe ring is crafted in 18ct yellow gold and bears French assay marks. The substantial domed form showcases the sculptural aesthetic for which the maison is renowned, combining vibrant colour with striking geometric compositions. The upper section is designed as a meticulously structured lattice of square and rectangular-shaped panels, each set with cabochon natural emeralds, sapphires and rubies. These vibrant gemstones, comprising seven emeralds weighing approximately 1.04cts, six sapphires totalling 1.20cts and six rubies totalling 1.20cts, are beautifully offset by graduating diamond-set panels containing thirty-eight brilliant-cut natural diamonds weighing approximately 1.85cts. The interplay between the geometric arrangement of coloured gemstones and the radiating diamond-set sections creates a captivating sense of movement across the sculpted dome. Since it was founded in Paris in 1847, the House has gone from strength to strength, being famously credited as the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers by King Edward VII. The house was as its zenith when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1847 to 1964. Signed Cartier, this distinctive creation showcases the maison's renowned mastery of colour, form and craftsmanship, making it a superb example of the house's enduring jewellery design.
