PHENOMENAL GEMSTONES

Sri Lankan Star Sapphire Ring

Introducing a celestial 11.60ct Masterpiece six-armed Star Sapphire from the lost volcanoes of Sri Lanka.

Gem Island

Sri Lankan Riches

Sri Lanka is celebrated as one of the world’s oldest and most important sources of sapphires. Known historically as Ceylon, the island’s gem-rich gravels have produced stones of remarkable brightness and purity for thousands of years. Its unique geology, formed of ancient Pre-Cambrian volcanic rock, provides ideal conditions for the formation of metamorphic corundum, the mineral that gives rise to sapphire. Sri Lankan sapphires are admired for their lighter, cornflower blue hue and subtle violet undertones that distinguish them from darker stones found elsewhere.

Phenomenal Sapphires

The Star Within

When light meets the surface of a star sapphire, fine inclusions called rutile needles scatter light into star like shapes. This mesmerising display, known as asterism, is visible only in skilfully cut cabochon shaped stones. The finest and most desirable example such as this 11.60ct stone, exhibit a crisp 6 armed star, in high contrast to a cornflower blue hue sapphire, that moves evenly across the stones surface as it rolls. Certified as natural and untreated by the American Gemological Laboratories, it exemplifies a rare combination of colour, asterism and fine craftsmanship.

Crafted for Light

Beauty in Balance

The ring’s design captures the unique symmetry of the star that lies within the sapphire. Crafted in 18ct yellow gold, the mount is shaped to draw the eye towards the stone’s luminous centre. Broad split shoulders, echoing the geometry of the star, are set with 28 calibre cut channel set diamonds that taper towards the bezel, while a fine border of 12 brilliant cut diamonds adds a soft radiance around the central stones edge. Each detail is precisely calculated to balance proportion and light, allowing the sapphire to remain the true focus.

Celebrating Asterism

The final piece demonstrates the most skilful of designs, beauty in simplicity. The minimalism of the setting ensures the central stone sits proud of its mount, maximising light and ensuring all 6 arms of the otherworldly star are visible and able to roam across the stones surface whilst in motion.
