Handcrafted By Pragnell

We are committed to the transparency of the countries of manufacture for our jewellery. This further reinforces our pledge to ensure responsible and traceable sourcing, working with mines and suppliers who share our long-term environmental commitment. We are also a proud member of the Responsible Jewellery Council.

Over the past decade, we have been refining the workshops we partner with, ensuring we have specialists across all forms of jewellery-making worldwide and a skill set of the highest excellence from that heritage. As part of the ongoing commitment to champion the preservation of artisan techniques, we directly employ, train, and partner with exceptional artisans. This approach ensures that these artisanal techniques and skills are refined and retained. All Pragnell jewellery is designed and evolved in Great Britain by members of the family.

We are pleased to reveal that 75% of our Pragnell jewellery is handcrafted in Pragnell British workshops, two of which are situated and can be viewed within our showrooms in Stratford-upon-Avon and Leicester. Specialisms in Pragnell British workshops range from stone setting, CAD, chain making and polishing, to name a few. The remaining 25% is handcrafted in partner workshops in Italy, the US and Switzerland. These centres of excellence have been chosen specially for the centuries-old techniques and skills available.

We have a rich history of collaborating with highly skilled craftspeople. All partners are chosen by the Pragnell family to craft goods to the highest standards and these relationships have been nurtured for generations. We are proud to be able to communicate the country of origin to all new Pragnell jewellery, and a growing proportion of Vintage pieces. This information is listed on our website and shared with clients when visiting Pragnell showrooms for full transparency of where each item has been handcrafted.

We are proud to display a Mark on Italian jewellery, handcrafted in Italy, in a Pragnell partner workshop. Italy has a rich and illustrious history of producing the finest gold chains. The demand for quality woven links of lustrous gold has led to manufacturing most of our Pragnell gold chains in Italy, thus ensuring only the highest quality is created and demand is fulfilled. The exception is the Pragnell Handmade English Chain, which represents the very finest work in the rare art of chain making and is crafted by a chain-making artisan in Great Britain.

The relationship between American jewellery workshops and Pragnell began during Managing Director Charlie Pragnell’s training period in New York, primarily focused on antique and period jewellery. By forming connections with workshops and manufacturers, he gained insight into the intimate experience shared between goldsmiths and diamond cutters, where calibre-cut diamonds can be cut and set side by side in the same workshop, showcasing a very difficult skill executed with great finesse. These relationships have been nurtured to this day to produce Pragnell jewellery.

In Geneva, Switzerland, a handful of specialists in Pragnell partner artisan workshops are dedicated to polishing and setting exceptionally rare, high-quality gemstones. Often sourced from antique pieces, our investment-grade gems may need restoration after being worn for centuries before being incorporated into our jewellery.

In Germany, renowned for the quality of its jewellery manufacture and a long history of coloured gemstone cutting, Pragnell partners with workshops to create pieces that showcase these rare gems.

The Pragnell name symbolises a commitment to quality and craftsmanship, showcasing exceptional skill and precision, which are values at the heart of Pragnell. Working with trusted workshops enables excellence of craft, full transparency, and the highest-quality jewellery to supply to our clients.

As such, we are proud to unveil five new marks that will feature on each new piece of Pragnell jewellery as a commitment to where each piece has been handcrafted. The Pragnell Falcon represents Great British craftsmanship, the Centurion symbolises Italy, the Statue of Liberty stands for the US, the mountains signify Switzerland, and the Black Eagle is emblematic of Germany.
