Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC)
At Pragnell, we are proud to be a committed member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) —the world’s leading authority for ethical, sustainable, and responsible standards in the global jewellery and watch industry. By upholding the RJC Codes of Practice, we actively support the United Nations 2030 Agenda and contribute to its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
About the Responsible Jewellery Council
Founded in 2005, the Responsible Jewellery Council brings together more than 1,800 companies across the international jewellery and watch supply chain—from mining to retail. The organisation aims to build trust, transparency, and sustainability, ensuring responsible sourcing and ethical conduct from mine to masterpiece.
The RJC plays a vital role in promoting:
• Integrity throughout the supply chain
• Ethical and human rights focused business practices
• Environmental protection and sustainable resource use
• Clarity and transparency for consumers
RJC Codes of Practice (2019)
The RJC Code of Practices (CoP) sets a unified global standard covering ethical, social, human rights, and environmental principles for the jewellery sector.
The framework ensures members:
• Strengthen legal and regulatory compliance
• Apply robust supply chain due diligence
• Promote anti-corruption efforts
• Support community development
• Use natural resources responsibly
• Provide accurate product safeguarding and disclosure
• Uphold responsible exploration and mining
RJC Chain of Custody (2017)
The RJC Chain of Custody (CoC) standard ensures gold, silver and platinum group metals are handled in a fully traceable, responsibly sourced, and transparent way.
Its goals are to:
• Define responsible handling and trading of precious metals
• Provide an independent certification customers can trust
• Add value to jewellery pieces by guaranteeing responsible provenance
