Green diamonds are a rare and stunning variety of diamond that have a green hue. Their colour can range from faint green to deep emerald green.

The green colour found in gem-quality diamonds is incredibly diverse and captivating. Within the GIA fancy colour grading system, this category encompasses diamonds that showcase a vivid pure green hue and those where green serves as the dominant colour, beautifully blended with alluring shades of blue, brown, grey, or yellow. This rich variety makes green diamonds a unique and striking choice for any connoisseur.

Green diamonds have been found in kimberlite-hosted deposits and secondary alluvial sediments in nearly every diamond-producing country. However, certain locations consistently yield more of these valuable stones.
In the past decade, most green diamonds observed have been yellow-green or pure green. These are followed by those with grey or brown modifiers and those containing blue components. These differing colour groupings correlate, to some extent, to four primary types of atomic-level defect arrangements found in natural diamonds: GR1, H3, hydrogen, and nickel defects.
