A luminous breakthrough in horological design, the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Ceralume® introduces IWC Schaffhausen’s proprietary luminous ceramic technology to the Pilot’s Watches collection. Limited to 250 pieces, this 46.5mm timepiece reveals a dual character: by day, it plays on subtle contrasts of white and grey with a refined interplay of matte and polished surfaces; in darkness, the entire case, dial and strap radiate an intense blue glow, transforming the watch into a vivid, self-illuminating instrument. At its core lies the legendary IWC perpetual calendar, originally developed by Kurt Klaus in the 1980s. The date, weekday, month and moon phase are displayed across four subdials, with a four-digit year window nestled between 7 and 8 o’clock. The signature Double Moon® display tracks the lunar cycle for both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres with remarkable accuracy, requiring adjustment by just one day every 577.5 years. Powered by the IWC-manufactured calibre 52616, the watch features a Pellaton automatic winding system reinforced with virtually wear-free ceramic components, delivering an impressive 168-hour (7-day) power reserve. The case is crafted from luminous white ceramic, with the dial and white rubber strap also infused with Super-LumiNova® pigments, while the “Probus Scafusia” medallion on the rotor and the case back itself glow in the dark. A stainless steel case back ring and crown provide a strong visual contrast, underscoring the watch’s advanced engineering and cosmic allure.
