Description

A superb platinum and old European cut diamond set bombe’ dress ring from the Art Deco period by the House of Cartier. A central old European cut diamond (5.10ct) takes centre stage securely rubover set into lustrous platinum. This impressive diamond radiates with the unique charm of diamonds that were cut by candlelight (pre-industrialisation). A sea of smaller diamonds expertly set into the surround and shoulders brings the impressive centre stone to life. The Bombé or “bomb shaped” design originated in France during the 1920s, with Cartier producing some of the first examples. The name of Cartier instantly brings-to-mind the sparkle of diamonds, and the allure of the rich and famous. Since it was founded in Paris in 1847, the House has gone from strength to strength, being famously credited as “the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers” by King Edward VII. The house was as its zenith when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1847 to 1964. Signed Cartier Paris this collectible ring is immensely wearable today, and incredibly comfortable when gracing the hand. The Pragnell family are proud to offer a spectacular selection of exquisite signed pieces from the House, ranging from the Art Deco to the Retro periods.
