Evolving from the cushion shapes of earlier 1960s references, the 1990s Luminor case introduced a more essential, cleaner silhouette defined by sharper angles, crisper edges, robust solid lugs and a curved Crown Protective Bridge that follows the watch's profile. Originally adapted from 47mm to 44mm for Panerai's first presentation to the civilian public in 1993, this design now enters a new chapter in a reduced 42mm size with the PAM01710. The automatic P.980 calibre delivers a three-day power reserve, with horizontally brushed top plates and an open-worked oscillating weight bearing a blue "Officine Panerai" engraving. Water resistant to 500 metres and tested at 25% above its guaranteed depth rating, this 42mm interpretation retains the commanding presence of the historic 1993 design in a more wearable, everyday proportion. A matte black dial with luminous Arabic numerals and hour markers is paired with a beige canvas strap, created specifically for this new Luminor. Light, strong and durable, the strap features leather reinforcement around the holes for added strength.
