Celebrating 50 years of Gérald Genta’s iconic Ingenieur SL, the IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 50th Anniversary is a limited edition of just 1,150 pieces, offering a refined contemporary interpretation of the legendary 1976 design. Its 40mm stainless steel case features the Ingenieur’s distinctive five-screw bezel and integrated stainless steel bracelet, with a combination of satin-finished and polished surfaces lending depth and definition to the sculptural design. The silver-plated dial features a distinctive brushed finish and intricate grid pattern inspired by a historic 1970s Ingenieur SL variant, complemented by hand-applied rhodium-plated hour markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova®. A subtle ‘50’ replaces the traditional lightning bolt in the Ingenieur logo, marking the anniversary edition. Beneath convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, the dial presents hours, minutes, central seconds and date functions. At its core is the IWC-manufactured Calibre 32111 automatic movement, featuring a double-pawl winding system and delivering an impressive 120-hour power reserve. Like the original Ingenieur SL, it incorporates a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields, while operating at 28,800 vph with 21 jewels. Water resistant to 100 metres and finished with an integrated satin-finished bracelet, the Ingenieur Automatic 40 50th Anniversary combines Genta’s enduring design with IWC’s contemporary engineering.
