CORONATION CELEBRATION NECKLACE

To celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, a new Coronation Celebration necklace has been created featuring jewels from the Commonwealth nations. The Queen’s Coronation Celebration necklace is not only a reflection of the beauty and cultural diversity of all 56 Commonwealth nations, but it also symbolises their unified support for King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The necklace features 14 pairs of renowned coloured gemstones, which originate from nations of the Commonwealth.

DESIGN & LAYOUT

As with every Masterpiece at Pragnell, the design is dictated by the gemstone, or in this case, the layout of gemstones. The Coronation Celebration necklace posed a design challenge not often encountered in the creation of jewellery, that of multiple gemstone varieties. The concept features pairs of gemstone varieties, each matched in colour but cut differently, ensuring every stone is unique.

To create a sense of balance, each of the pairs of gemstones is perfectly opposed, which required us to trial dozens of potential layouts during the design process. A sense of unity is achieved by ensuring that complementary colours and shapes are next to one another and evenly distributed throughout the necklace.

CRAFTMANSHIP

Crafted entirely by hand in our workshops, the necklace showcases the artisanal skill of a traditional jeweller. With each stone being unique in shape and form, the mount is best crafted by hand, guaranteeing the perfect fit.

Once assembled, it is then the stone setter who ensures each gem is held securely within the mount using a fine talon claw so as not to detract from the gemstone. The last stage of creating this piece is down to the polisher, who uses a variety of techniques several times to achieve a perfect mirror finish

To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, a commemorative hallmark has been approved for use until December 2024. Based on a medal by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS and using artwork supplied by Thomas Fattorini.
