The festival aims to promote writers' work, sell books, encourage discoverability, and promote the benefits of reading and writing for education, literacy, and well-being on a local level. The festival organisers also work closely with the local community, running literary outreach events in schools, projects with older people, and writing workshops in prisons.

Our flagship showroom has been located in the heart of Wood Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, since 1954; by encouraging this pivotal event, we aim to help the local community thrive, attract people to the area, and contribute to the local economy.

Pragnell has proudly supported the Stratford Literary Festival since 2023. In May 2025, Pragnell was delighted to sponsor Mishal Husain, the well-known radio presenter and TV newsreader, who discussed her Sunday Times bestselling memoir and acclaimed actors Juliet Stevenson and Sally Phillips, as together, they celebrated the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth with an event titled "By a Lady: A Celebration of the Wit of Jane Austen."

An exciting program has been announced for this year's Autumn Festival, which will take place from 30th October to 2nd November 2025.

Confirmed speakers include Graham Norton, John Cleese, Lyse Doucet, Tony Robinson, Joanna Page, Dame Denise Lewis and many more!

This year, Pragnell is delighted to sponsor two events:

Stratford Literary Festival - Graham Norton .jpg

Graham Norton, the immensely popular broadcaster and TV presenter, presents his latest novel—a story that spans post-war Ireland and 1960s New York.

Frankie Howe has always struggled with self-doubt, which kept her from stepping into the spotlight; after all, life has treated her harshly. Now in her eighties, she finds it easier to put her past behind her.

When Damian, a young Irish caregiver, arrives at her London flat to assist with her recovery from a fall, a memory is triggered, and the past comes alive as Damian listens to the story that Frankie has kept hidden for so many years.

Stratford Literary Festival - Lyse Doucet.jpg

The BBC's Chief International Correspondent, Lyse Doucet, explores five decades of Afghanistan's tumultuous history through the lens of Kabul's Inter-Continental Hotel. This narrative offers a vivid and deeply human perspective on the lives of everyday Afghans. When the hotel first opened in 1969, it symbolised the country's aspirations. Today, it stands as a dilapidated, shrapnel-damaged shell, yet its decaying grandeur continues to reflect the hopes of ordinary Afghans for stability and prosperity.
