Description
A classic emerald and diamond three stone ring from the Victorian period. Featuring a central cushion cut diamond (1.18ct), and two verdant green octagonal cut emeralds (0.53ct) that have been securely claw set in 18ct yellow gold. An openwork gallery completes this classic 19th-century design. Three-stone rings are known to represent the past, present and future of a relationship. They became increasingly popular in the Victorian period when it became fashionable to wear multiple rings on each hand. This was influenced by Queen Victoria and her royal relatives, who dictated styles and tastes to the Empire at large. Victorians loved anything bestowed with meaning and this was particularly true for jewellery. The 'Romantic' period of this era represented a time of marital bliss for Queen Victoria. Perfect to wear as a showpiece jewel this ring combines the birthstones for the months of April and May.
