Edwardian Three Row Diamond Necklace in Platinum and 18ct Rose Gold
Emerald Cut, Millegrain Set
Description
A platinum and diamond three row necklace from the late Edwardian era. Three flexible rows of small romantically sparkling old cut diamonds elegantly encircle the neck. Set into lustrous platinum intricate millegrain edging ensures they will come to life when worn. Five larger old cut stones perfectly define the design resonating with the unique charm of diamonds that were cut by hand in candlelight. A truly special piece the clasp of this necklace features a sea blue rectangular aquamarine (2.29cts) that has been flanked by a floral inspired arrangement of pear cut diamonds (perfect to be worn with shorter hairstyles). The Edwardian period only lasted for nine years (1901-1910), but it was an incredibly important era for jewellery design. Hugely intricate pieces showcasing the very best diamonds and coloured gemstones were worn with elaborate fashions from the most famous French couture houses. Driven by the explosion of court life, steered by the fashion-conscious King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, this was a truly special time. A supremely elegant creation that is as wearable today as it was at the beginning of the last century.
