Art Deco Sterlé Coral & Diamond Ring 1.10ct in 18ct Yellow Gold

A highly collectible cocktail ring from the French jeweller Pierre Sterlé (1905-1978). The house was as its pinnacle when it was owned and run by the founding family, from 1934 to 1976. Approaching jewellery design with the structure and fluidity of haute couture, he became known as the 'couturier of jewellery', with pieces bearing his signature displaying strong lines and movement. This bold creation from the Art Deco period features a tactile piece of precious pink red coral that has been expertly carved into a yin and yang symbol. Coral is a gemstone that has been used in jewellery since ancient times, and is associated with protection, healing, relaxation and transformation. The now iconic yin and yang symbol also became prominent during the era, with its pleasing form representing many things, including light and dark as well as male and female.
