Brilliant cut, Claw set
Description
A bold 18ct yellow gold and green-blue diamond hinged alligator cuff bangle by the American designer Barry Kielselstein-Cord from the 1980s. Expertly detailed in matt 18ct yellow gold, a powerful alligator coils around the wrist. Expertly detailed, defined scales are exquisitely tactile and perfectly bring this prehistoric reptile to life. With powerful jaws half open the eyes and tail feature sparkling brilliant cut green-blue diamonds (0.21ct). The designer, artist and photographer Barry Kielselstein-Cord has been producing signature statement fine jewellery for over forty years. The iconic and powerful alligator has featured in his collections for many years and is still produced by the company today. A sturdy hinged construction ensures that this bangle is effortless to take on and off the wrist and can be worn and enjoyed from day to night. An identical version featured prominently in the hugely successful 1992 neo-noir erotic thriller Basic Instinct and was worn by Sharon Stone's character (Catherine Tramell) during the famous interview scene.
