Description
This beautiful light and ethereal tiara was created in the Pragnell workshops in the heart of England. Handcrafted from 18ct white gold and sparkling brilliant cut diamonds the design was inspired by audacious dove tiara that was created by Philip Antrobus of Bond Street (c.1925). Established at the beginning of the 19th-century Antrobus was asked by Prince Phillip of Greece and Denmark to create the engagement ring he presented to Princess Elizabeth in 1947. When the firm was acquired by the Pragnell family in the early 1990s the original design for the Dove tiara stood out when uncovered in the company's extensive archive of designs. The resulting tiara seen here resembles two elegant wing forms with a rose cut pear diamond (1.80cts) taking centre stage as the body and head of the dove. The design is completed by six delicate pear-shaped forms that have been set with small brilliants representing the tail feathers. The freshness of Art Deco can be seen in this beautiful tiara that has been expertly translated from the original design into something wearable and modern. This style of tiara was popular during the 1920s when changing fashions and hairstyles meant designs had to be worn low across the forehead.
