A lively G colour 5.40ct central marquise cut diamond captivates the eye, and has been securely claw set into durable platinum. This exceptional stone has been further enhanced by ice crystal-like baguette cut diamonds (1.54ct) that have been expertly set into each shoulder. The slim pointed corners and full centre of the now well-known marquise cut were first seen in 18th century France, where it was created for King Louis XV. The design has been influenced by the Retro period (1941-1960), which saw the warm tones of yellow and rose gold dominate jewellery design as platinum had been reserved for wartime use. The combination of yellow gold and platinum is a complicated and intricate process that only the most experienced jewellers can accomplish.
